DYH September 10th and 17th 2009

Show notes for 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' September 10th and 17th 2009:

If you have heard my show in the last few weeks, you have probably noticed that it has been quite different. Also, If you listen in the next few weeks you will also notice that it is quite missing!

This is because we have been working on our East Coast Tour of Canada. The last few shows in September were dedicated to giving the listeners a... [more]

DYH September 3rd 2009

Show notes for 'Do You Hear What I Hear? September 3rd 2009:

This was a special show even before it began. It marked the two year anniversary of me doing DYHWIH?, as well as, two announcements that were revealed live on air.

To make sure that everything ran smoothly on this special night I decided to invite someone on the air that I had literally talked to for 5 minutes on Facebook the night before. I... [more]

2 Year Anniversary

Some have argued that yesterday was indeed not my half birthday.  Since I was born on March 2nd, and half of 2 is 1, and half of March is September, I have lived my life believing that September 1st is my real half birthday. I suppose today, September the 2nd, could technically be considered my half birthday, as long as you ignore the fact that February only has 28 days.

So until the math wizards/marketers of

Halfy Birthday To Me.

Today is my half birthday and let me guess, you didn't get me anything.

Well, it is never too late to use the donate button on my radio show page. Sure there is no explanation to what you are actually donating towards (yet), but that's not the point. The point is that it is actually my half birthday, and you have forgotten.

Maybe you are thinking, why would anyone celebrate their half birthday, and to those... [more]

DYH August 27th 2009

Show notes for 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' August 27th 2009:

Last weeks show was all about metal and being alone. Not that listening to metal has anything to do with being alone; rather, my co-host Nebraska Penny was away on special assignment, leaving me alone with a pile of music, and thousands of ears waiting to be fed.

Side note: Ears eat music.

To start the night off right, I wanted to give my audience a ta

There Will Be No Encore!

Actually that's not true, there will be one last encore as Bluesfest comes to a close, but than that is it! Make tonight count people!

At 7:00pm Handsome Furs, Canada's cutest rock and roll couple, show you what marriage is like in a noisy rock band.

8:00pm marks the return of a Bluesfest headliner with his new band, The Dead Weather.

And oh yeah, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will close off the festival, giving you one... [more]

It's Time to Rock!

Let's rock out with our clocks out, so we don't miss a minute!

Set your alarms to 4:30pm where Woodhands, who sound nothing like their name, will let you know what they thought about kissing a girl , and then rock you down to electric avenue.

Then at 5:45pm we switch paths through The Deep Dark Woods, a band that does sound like their name, even when playing on a sunny afternoon.

After The Deep Dark Woods, your... [more]

From Cheese to Cake

The last couple nights of Bluesfest have been a little cheesy, but tonight takes the cake, or rather is the Cake. mmm Cake.

Not a lot of hidden treats though, unless you are into nice indie acts with obscure instruments, multiple singers and lots of clapping. If so I would advise you to go see Library Voices at 8:00pm.

But that of course would mean that you wouldn't get to go to Cake (and see them too!) Now Cake... [more]

Rhymes Crashing on a Pile of Styx Live in Ottawa!

Tonight we sail the seas of cheese through a lineup that is both lovable and laughable:

Our voyage begins at 6:00pm with Shout Out Out Out Out, who much like Kiss, are not that exciting on CD. They exist to play live shows, and tonight Ottawa, they exist to play for you!

Now if they are not your scene, and you need to get the hell out out out out, there are other paths:

The Human Statues are also playing at... [more]

Doug Gives Rock and Roll Advice to You

So tonight is a pretty significant night for rock and roll at Bluesfest. Not because they are showcasing a great rock and roll act; rather, because another type of rock and roll 'act' is getting the festival re-named 'Tweedfest'.

Now of course that is untrue, but it's that type of talk that seems to overshadow what really should be talked about. So let me, Doug, gives rock and roll advice to you:

At 6:00pm go get... [more]
